Making and Understanding Friendships

Our programs aim to build confidence, ensuring that participants can positively step out into the world, equipped with the social tools they need to thrive.

Whether it's learning to share resources, understanding personal space, or working together to achieve a common goal, the skills developed in our Minecraft programs have a lasting impact that extends beyond the screen.

At Brightlives, our amazing team works closely every week to ensure that the group builds healthy friendships and builds their emotional intelligence and confidence.

Build Essential Social Skills While Having Fun

Using Minecraft as a tool to build social skills offers a unique, engaging way for players to learn and practice collaboration, communication, and empathy.

Participants work together to complete complex projects, build structures, and explore vast digital worlds, often relying on teamwork to achieve shared goals. Our facilitators encourage teamwork by delegating tasks as well as providing encouragement and constructiveness throughout each session.

For younger players, this cooperative environment helps them develop patience, empathy, and resilience, as they learn to understand and respect the ideas and perspectives of others while creating something meaningful together.

Social Skills Assessment

Our social skills assessment  evaluates your child's strengths, challenges, and needs for improvement in social interactions. It includes reviewing background information, observing the child in a structured setting, and using standardised evaluation tools like ESRA and SIPRA.

Key areas assessed include communication, emotional understanding, peer interactions, and problem-solving. Input from parents and our program facilitators helps provide a comprehensive view of your child's behaviours.

The assessment concludes with tailored recommendations for targeted interventions, behavioural therapies, and resources for parents and educators, along with a plan for follow-up and progress monitoring.

Using Minecraft as the Platform

More than 90% of surveyed teachers cited problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration as the key skills gained through using Minecraft in the classroom. A number of Studies and reports have cited Minecraft's social-emotional learning (SEL) benefits.

This tool offers a structured yet flexible environment that helps develop social, sensory, and cognitive skills. The platforms open-ended design allows players to explore and build at their own pace, which can reduce anxiety and provide a safe space for self-expression.

Monica R

Clinical Nurse Consultant in Autism

Director of Brightlives.

Welcome to our Minecraft Social Skills Group page. We have been running our Minecraft program for a few years now and have an amazing little community of little inventors and Minecraft extraordinaire.  We are always excited to meet new kids and look forward to sharing this amazing space with you.

Playing video games is a common activity for children with ASD.  Throughout my studies and research, I have noticed that with Minecraft’s popularity, we have had the opportunity to see the impacts and opportunities for Minecraft to enhance the education and social connections of Neurodiverse children.

Minecraft is an opportunity to integrate virtual and real-world social connections. It's 'immersive emotional experiences' provide opportunities to practice new regulatory skills that the kids can then integrate outside the game
